Mount Aspiring, Towering 3.055 Metres Above Sea Level, Lording It Over The Lesser Peaks In The Mount Aspiring National Park, Is Always Snow-Covered, And Its Flanks Are Draped With No Fewer Than Five Quite Sizeable Glaciers.  This Peak Is Remarkably Symmetrical, And Extremely Photogenic.

Lake Pukaki Is Fed By The Tasman River, Running Milky Cold From The Hooker And Tasman Glaciers, Past The Foot Of Mount Cook. At An Altitude Of 482 Metres, It Is Skirted By The Highway Running To The Hermitage, Mount Cook.

Lake Tekapo Is Wildly Beautiful, A Sort Of Upland Loch, Hidden In The Canterbury Hinterland  But Belonging To The Scottish Highlands.  The Bed On An Acient Glacier, Tekapo Is 25kms Long And 5kms Wide, Surrounded With Splendid Alpine Scenery.

Lake Mapourika Is A Glacial Remnant, A One-Time Piece Of ‘Dead’ Ice About Forty Meters Thick.  It Was Named By Goldminers, After A Ship Which Plied Between Australia And The West Coast.

Fox Glacier Slides Down From A Vast Snowfield Between The Fritz And Fox Ranges, About 5km North Of Mount Cook.
